    Summary

    The KCIT GIS Center is seeking a senior team member to lead the management and enhancement of our Geographic Information System (GIS) platforms. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining our spatial enterprise warehouses and related systems while ensuring data integrity, performance, and security. You will also create and manage processes for integrating data with various King County IT systems. A key focus of this role will be modernizing our data platforms as well as proactively troubleshooting any platform issues.

    Job Duties

    • Design, build, and maintain on-premise and cloud-based enterprise spatial databases.
    • Develop and manage robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for spatial data integration.
    • Automate complex spatial data processing tasks and workflows.
    • Provide expert technical support for GIS application development and integration projects.
    • Lead troubleshooting efforts to rapidly identify and resolve technical issues within GIS systems.
    • Oversee quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for GIS data and applications to ensure high-quality outcomes.
    • Collaborate with King County professionals to define and coordinate enterprise-wide GIS services, policies, and standards.
    • Ensure GIS solutions comply with current industry best practices and organizational standards.

    Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Geography/GIS, Applied Science, or a related field.
    • Experience designing information architecture.
    • Skill in using Python or a similar scripting language for development and automation.
    • Proficiency with Esri products: ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise
    • Experience developing and consuming APIs and web services for data integration.
    • Familiarity with source control and code management (e.g., Git).
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience with project management and working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
    • Excellent communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration
    • Experience documenting and diagramming architectures and workflows.
    Desirable Qualifications
    • Master’s or Advanced degree in Geography/GIS, Applied Science, or a related field.
    • Esri Technical Certifications (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise Administration, ArcGIS Developer)
    • GISP (Certified GIS Professional)
